Hillsboro, OR 97124· | Syun Izakaya
Since our favorite Japanese Restaurant in Tanasborne is gone. Charlie where are you?😢
We are hunting for another Japanese Restaurant that offers good sushi and ramen noodles but not too pricey.
Ash had mentioned about Syun Izakaya to me a couple times already but we didn’t get a chance to visit and check out the place. Finally, last Sunday we did. The weather was beautiful so it was perfect to check some new places.
This is not a review or recommendation, we just want to share our new discoveries (Husband’s new rediscovered 😉)
The restaurant has so much character. The building used to be the old Hillsboro Public library that they turned into a Japanese Restaurant. The front of restaurant is so pretty. The red awning added to the character of the old building plus the vines that crawls up the walls.
The inside is so cute, its decorated by bamboo, shells and empty sake bottle.
We had vegetable tempura for appetizer and I’m so surprised and happy that there is okra which I haven’t eaten for almost 6 years already. The vegi tempura is good.
We also had shumai covered with brown rice and their gyoza was really good. We also loved their spicy crispy tuna rolls that we ordered.
I love custard, anything custard since my husband saw it in their menu he asked me if I want it. Of course I want it! I was looking for house tea because most Japanese or Oriental Restaurant tea is complimentary but this place you need to buy it. We had macha green tea which is pretty good but its too pricey. We ended up paying a bit more than we ate because they mistakenly charged us for something we didn’t order. The Question is… Are we going to go back there again I say yes but we need to be a bit more careful what we are going to order because you can have a pretty big bill if you are not careful.
